“Stand up dear President”-some reminders from Abraham Lincoln
The United States of America is truly a great nation and perhaps needs no branding consultant to describe its proposition to its peoples.
Enshrined in their Constitution and many public bodies is the relevance of the nation to citizens from across the world who made it their home and continue making it the chosen place. A pot pourri of cultures and peoples — all with the singular purpose of fostering equal opportunity, liberty and the freedom of choice.
Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton? Truth vs. lies. Man vs. woman. So many are the antipodes. But in an election that is happening now, what does this great nation stand for?
A brand called USA and an election that brings out the characteristics of the leadership…
So I thought why not I dip into history and just look at one of the greatest presidents of the country– Abraham Lincoln and see what he thought Brand USA and Brand President was all about.
Here are some select, quotable quotes from him arranged by me to drive home a point. Give them a thought. Think it will keep America great…
“My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.”
“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”
“ America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution.”
“Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves; and under the rule of a just God, cannot long retain it.”
“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”
“Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.”
“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”
“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.”
“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.”
God bless the United States of America…
